A Lattice Trellis for Your Garden

A Lattice Trellis can be a boon for your garden. All of those climbing plants that you have wanted to add to you garden for years will now have a place to grow. This type of trellis is ideal for all sorts of plants. You can grow everything from climbing vines to tomatoes that need something to hold them upright. In some cases, a lattice trellis can be attached to a raised garden bed to further diversify the plants in that garden. It really is wonderful to see what you do with a trellis.

The Trellis garden structure was developed many years ago, and had a mostly utilitarian use. After years of being more of a decoration for a lot of people, the trellis is now being used more for its usefulness. This is due in large part to an increased need for people to grow their own food. By adding a trellis to a vegetable garden, a person can grow peppers and onions in the same bed as tomatoes. That diversity of food will keep encouraging the gardener to try new things.

Lattice trellises will come in different sizes, and can be made of different materials. If you have a large garden, you may want to have multiple panels of lattice trellises. Some other garden structures, like pergolas, will sometimes incorporate a lattice trellis into the structure to further diversify its usefulness. Depending on what look you are going for, you can find these trellises in metal, vinyl and wood. Of the wood materials used, cedar is probably the best because of its natural resistance to rot and bugs.

Take some time to figure out what type of trellis you want. If you aren’t interested in growing your own food, you may still enjoy the pleasing look trellises will bring to any garden.
