While Legolas was more known as a skilled archer in the Lord of the Rings trilogy, the elf was also skilled in close combat, using knives as his weapon of choice. There are many times in the movie would he be seen in battle, not taking out his targets at a distance with his bow and arrows, but rather in the middle of the fray, using his knives with mastery and great precision. These blades were popularly known as Legolas’ Fighting Knives.

Lord of the Rings swords & weapons fans will not want to pass up their chance to get their own replica of the very knives that Legolas used in the movie, especially those who favor the elf character who wields them. The knives are beautifully designed with vines to give an organic and earthy impression to match the culture of the elf race.

Being officially licensed knives by United Cutlery, these fighting knives also come with a parchment certifying its authenticity as well as a wooden display plaque adorned with the official seal of the Greenleaf family of Legolas.

Our daughter is finally moving out and getting her first apartment. While she did live out of the house while she was going to college, it was in a dormitory with roommates. Now that she has graduated she’s been able to line up a great job and will be getting a small place closer to the city. We wanted to make sure she has everything she needs to have a comfortable home, so we went on a little shopping spree for some new linens, kitchenware and other goodies. She loves to cook so we decided we wanted to start her off with a nice set of versatile cookware. She picked this EarthPan 10 Piece Stainless Steel Nonstick Cookware Set.

She simply loved that the set featured the EarthPan exclusive eco-friendly SandFlow nonstick interior. That means reduced greenhouse gasses during production and no toxic fumes when you’re cooking. This stainless nonstick cookware set includes 2 covered saucepans, a 3 quart covered saute pan, a large 8 quart covered stockpot and 2 open skillets. The attractive pots and pans are dishwasher safe and feature an aluminum base for even heating and and beautiful glass lids for the perfect finishing touch.

I’ve been storing my food in plastic for years. Big plastic containers for my dry cereals. smaller ones for teas, cookies, snacks and other foodies. Then I have another set of plastic containers for my leftovers. But unfortunately the longer I use them the uglier they get, especially the ones I use for leftovers that become stained from the sauces and other foods stored in them. The other problem with the plastic storage containers is that you can’t re-heat leftovers in them. Now there are so many articles of the dangers of many of the plastics gradually leaking toxins into our foods. So I finally decided to get rid of my tired containers and treat myself to a quality glass food storage container set.

I bought a great 16 piece set that’s made of tempered glass. The locking lids are liquid-tight and air-tight, so food stays fresher longer and I don’t have messy spills when I’m moving them in the fridge. These versatile containers are microwave safe, dishwasher safe, and freezer safe too. And best of all they won’t stain like my plastic set. These containers are excellent for anyone who needs some new food storage containers for their kitchen.

As usual I made way too much turkey for Thanksgiving. This year it was especially bad, because I didn’t know that my sister was also making a large ham. So what’s a girl to do with all this extra turkey? After all there are only so many turkey sandwiches you can eat before getting completely sick of them. Thankfully I came across this Thanksgiving leftover casserole recipe. I made it for dinner today and it was great. The flavor was completely different from the Thanksgiving food we’ve had since Thursday which made for a nice change.

I haven’t had a chance to try this yet, but I’m sure this casserole would freeze well. I love cooking for the holidays, but am not always so sure what to do with all the leftovers. Recipes like this casserole are a great way to use up extra turkey or even ham for that matter. I think I’ll make up two more batches tomorrow to put in the freezer. I’m sure they will come in handy on a busy weeknight or even a Sunday night when we’ve been out and about all day (which is going to happen a lot with our busy schedule in December).
